Terrorvision star Tony Wright among those performing at Yuri Gagarin concert

Keighley’s college plans to help “rock the planet” as part of this year’s annual celebrations for Yuri’s Night.

The STAR Centre, housed in Leeds City College’s Bradford Road campus, will host a gig on April 12 to commemorate the world’s first manned space flight by Yuri Gagarin on that date in 1961.

The event will appropriately feature local band Laika Dog, named after the Soviet space dog which was the first animal to orbit the Earth. The band will be fronted by former Terrorvision lead singer Tony Wright.

Every year on Yuri’s Night, venues and organisations around the world hold space-themed celebration events and activities.

All proceeds from the evening are being donated to the charity mysmallhelp, which raises funds for educational and skills projects in Peru and Nepal.

Tickets priced £6 are available from Keighley Campus, Jam On Top Music Studios and Aire Valley Guitars Ltd, as well as online at wegottickets.com/event/209450.
