CREWE FC manager Carl Everall has admitted his side must cut out individual errors if they are to progress to the final of the Crewe and District Cup.
The Cheshire Football League Division One's seventh-placed side suffered a 2-1 defeat to sixth-placed rivals Greenalls PSO despite enjoying the best of the game, and Everall is under no illusions that a similar performance would see them crash out of their semi-final match at Sandbach Town on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
“We lost against Greenalls but dominated throughout, which was frustrating," said Everall.
"At 1-1 both Southern and Burrow missed golden chances to win the game, and it was Greenalls who got the winner after goalkeeper Wes Newton spilled the ball into the striker's path.
"Even their first goal was also an individual mistake by Ant Tinsley, who was caught out trying to control the ball on his chest at the back.
"We need to cut out the individual mistakes, which are happening way too often for players of this level.
"It's down to concentration and we will not get away with it on Saturday if we want to get back to winning ways."
Crewe were boosted both on and off the pitch by the arrival of former Crewe FC players Simon Everall and PJ Hudson after their current club Nantwich Town's game was called off.
Their arrival may not have helped Crewe win the game, but it did help break an attendance record as Dabbers fans arrived to watch their players turn out.
Crewe FC will not have their Evo-Stik Premier Division players for the trip to Crewe and District Premier Division side Sandbach on Saturday, but Everall plans on re-introducing some promising young players back into his ranks.
"Ben Burrow, aged 19, and Lee Smith, aged 20, are players I'm looking to re-call for the cup semi final," said Everall.
"The pair have been in good form this season and if they continue to work hard and develop, they could have a very bright future in football."
