Pensioner taken to hospital after crashing car into wall of a working men's club
A 90-year-old man was taken to hospital after crashing his car into the wall of a working men’s club last night.
Firefighters from Keighley and Haworth fire stations were called to the scene at 10.30pm, where they helped paramedics get the man out of the vehicle.
He was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure with minor injuries.
Fire crews cleared leaking petrol from the road and a Bradford Council worker was called to repair damage to the street light.
Watch commander Paul Turner, of Keighley fire station, said: “He had lost control of his car and crashed into the wall of the working men’s club. The car bounced off and then hit a lamppost, which stopped it.
“He was very lucky. The front of the vehicle was badly damaged and there was some damage to the working men’s club and the street light.”
