Museum premiere for film
7:37pm Wednesday 13th March 2013 in News
The packed premiere was attended by the young cast and crew, families and friends, as well as the paying public and movie buffs.
Thirteen to 16-year-olds from Titus Salt School worked with Amandus-Abendroth Gymnasium in Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, on the film as part of the Comenius Programme, which funds student exchange projects.
The joint venture started in November, with the schools regularly communicating via Skype and visiting each other twice to make the film.
Entitled, ‘The Young Musicians of CuxAire’, the film mixes live action and animation. It tells the story of four troubled teenagers, with little musical talent, from Saltaire and Cuxhaven, who enter a magical world triggered by images of the German folk tale, The Musicians of Bremen.
During the four-month project, the students received support from teachers and students as well as mentoring from professional animator David Bunting. The school hopes to continue its links with Germany and hold more exchange visits.
