Keighley quarry conditions to be reviewed
7:38pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News
A quarry will have its conditions reviewed for the first time in 15 years tomorrow.
Branshaw sandstone quarry, off Holme House Lane, Keighley, has been operating since 1955, with permission to run until 2020.
Tomorrow Bradford Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee will decide whether to change the conditions placed on the quarry, which is owned by Ashlar Stone Products.
Government guidelines state all quarries must have their conditions reviewed every 15 years.
Changes proposed by the Council include a prohibition on any on-site crushing, the planting of screening and an obligation for the operators to remove any mud or dirt caused by the quarry from public roads.
Proposals for a new on-site shed for sawing stone have been withdrawn after residents of Laycock, Holme House and Goose Eye raised concerns over increased noise.
