Neighbours can add to home value

A new study has found that having good neighbours can add £19,400 to the value of a house.

The research by Churchill home insurance found that 88 per cent of estate agents think a well-maintained home next door will increase the sale value of a property and can have the potential to increase its sale price by as much as 12 per cent.

However, an unsightly or poorly maintained neighbouring property could cut the price of a home by an average of 13 per cent. The report comes after yesterday’s Telegraph & Argus (above) reported how a Big Lottery Fund initiative is encouraging people across Bradford to get to know their neighbours by holding a Big Lunch event on June 2.
