A “fantastic turnout” of female Labour supporters heard a talk by the shadow women and equalities minister Yvette Cooper on Saturday.

Held at Bradford City Hall, 75 women attended the launch of Bradford Labour Women’s Forum.

Miss Cooper (pictured), MP for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford, praised those who attended, saying: “There was a fantastic turnout, and I thoroughly enjoyed the session. Bradford Labour’s women are full of energy and vigour, and there is a lot more to come from them.

“Participants raised a wide range of issues and it was a lively debate.

“Several people were concerned about the Prime Minister’s attitude towards women, and many commented on the stark contrast between a Bradford Labour Party engaging with women and the unsavoury views espoused by George Galloway in recent months which many found so insulting.

“There were some very talented people in that room today who can and should play central roles in Labour’s rebuilding in Bradford. I’m sure it will be a real success.”
