Baildon councillor wages war on dog mess
3:00pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News
Parish councillor Ian Lyons is so sick of dog mess on Baildon streets he is offering £100 of his own cash to anyone who successfully shops an illegal pooper.
Writing on his own website, former soldier and Liberal Democrat councillor Mr Lyons states: “Residents are tired of irresponsible dog owners failing to clean up their mess but it is notoriously difficult to prosecute owners.
“I’m offering this reward to anyone who reports dog fouling that leads to a successful prosecution. “We have to change the culture in Baildon and I want everyone to be the eyes and ears of our community.
“If I had my way, this reward would be paid by those who are caught. “In the meantime, I’ll pay for it myself.”
He is asking people with information on irresponsible dog owners to contact Bradford Council which can issue a dog owner with an £80 fixed penalty notice or even prosecute them for a fine up to £1,000.
