Bookworms have a new home at a Shipley school.

Pupils at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School saw their new library for the first time on World Book Day.

Head teacher Simon Gallacher said the library was a hit with children who wore pyjamas to school and took in their favourite bedtime book and teddy bear. They each received a book token that can be exchanged for a World Book Day book or £1 off any other book.

The library was opened by the school’s former deputy head teacher Mary Lynch, who retired in the summer after 33 years.

Mr Gallacher said: “She was really enthusiastic about libraries whilst she was here and an obvious choice to open the library.

“She spoke of how books should be cherished and could be a best friend at times – something we want the library to provide.”
