Date set for Oxenhope Straw Race

The date has been set for this year’s Oxenhope Straw Race, one of the village’s biggest annual events.

Held every July, the race is one of Yorkshire’s most quirky traditions and sees teams of two carry a bale of hay for two and a half miles through Oxenhope, stopping off at five pubs to have a pint in each. Many do the race in fancy dress.

This year’s race takes place on Sunday, July 7.

Last year the event raised £13,000 for various local charities. For more information visit strawrace.com
