Bradford leaders in war of words over Council Tax increase

Two political leaders have become embroiled in a war of words over a message sent to residents by Bradford Council leader David Green about Council Tax increases.

Councillor Glen Miller, the Tory group leader, said: “The message from Coun Green is blatantly political.

“He takes credit for not increasing Council Tax during the past two years and does not credit the Government with this.”

Coun Green said that if his message was political it would not have been sent out.

“My view is that the Government has cut funding available to Bradford Council, therefore I think if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck, and the same with cuts.

“He never said it went up by 3.9 per cent when his party were in charge of City Hall.”
