Traffic chaos on M62
Motorists across the UK are having to contend with around 19,000 sets of roadworks at present, it has been revealed, but the amount in Bradford is currently unknown.
The figures came from data from more than 80 British local authorities obtained following a request under the Freedom of Information Act from breakdown company Britannia Rescue.
But Bradford Council did not respond to the request, so data about local roads has not been revealed.
Meanwhile, the Highways Agency revealed that it has been working with the five authorities around Yorkshire, including Bradford Council, to minimise disruption as it works on its M62 Managed Motorway scheme, which has led to snarl-ups in the past few months.
The scheme runs from from junctions 25 to 30.
A Highways Agency spokesman said: “Work on the upgrade is continuing to progress very well and is due to fully open on time in the autumn.”
