Victim ran into road to escape Manningham robber

A terrified robbery victim dashed into rush hour traffic on Bradford’s Manningham Lane after his attacker punched him in the face, Bradford Crown Court heard.

Grzegorz Grabowski was found hiding in a bush by police who had seen him forcing fellow Pole, Konrad Rzeszotek, to hand over £4 and his loose change.

Grabowski, 26, of St Paul’s Road, Manningham, pleaded guilty to robbing Mr Rzeszotek at 5.20pm on November 4 last year.

He was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, with 200 hours of unpaid work. He was told to pay Mr Rzeszotek £250 compensation.

Grabowski’s solicitor Ray Singh said he was of previous good character and committed the robbery when drunk and after smoking cannabis.

Judge Peter Benson told Grabowski: “You are a hard working young man who behaved out of your normal character that day.”
