Bingley’s Royal British Legion branch is appealing for people to sponsor the cost of a marching band for this year’s Remembrance Day parade.

Last year the Spen Valley Scouts and Guides Band joined the town’s parade for the first time when about 600 people turned out.

Chairman Jim Dowzall said: “The parade has been going for many years, but support has grown over the last year so we decided to extend the parade and have a marching band.”

The branch cannot pay the £250 band fee for this year’s parade out of general branch funds as that money is to be used for benevolent purposes.

To support the group call Chris Drake on (01274) 678363 or Jim Dowzall on (01274) 412243.
