Orient day inspires Oakbank School students

Students at a Keighley school took time out of class for a trip to the Orient.

Hundreds of students from Oakbank School joined in Stop the Clock Day where instead of formal lessons they took part in enrichment activities.

More than 50 visitors came into school to help lead the wide range of activities.

Most of year nine had a Japanese-themed day visitor Akemi showing the teenagers how to speak Japanese.

They also took part in origami, Japanese art, judo, Japan-inspired creative writing, and making Japanese Curry with master baker Mike Armstrong.

Year eight were visited by the No Way Trust, an educational charity set up by prison officers who want to steer young people away from crime.
