Further meeting on £1m lottery regeneration programme for Keighley

Another meeting is being held to let people know about a new £1 million regeneration programme for Keighley.

Residents of areas like Woodhouse, Parkwood, Thwaites and Stockbridge can learn about the Keighley Valley Project.

They will be able to put forward ideas of how their own neighbourhoods could benefit from the ten-year project.

The Valley Project is one of six across Yorkshire and Humber to receive money through the Big Lottery Fund’s Big Local programme.

It covers a strip of neighbourhoods around the lower stretches of the River Worth from Stockbridge to Wesley Place.

The intention is that residents – rather than politicians and public bodies – will take the lead in devising schemes to improve the communities.

The first consultation meeting last month attracted 25 people with many of them signing up to get involved the project.

Big Local coordinator Sam Keighley said the second meeting, today at Parkwood Primary School, would be a repeat of the first.

The meeting runs from 10am to 11.30am. Anyone interested can contact Sam at sam@keighleybiglocal .com.
