Van drivers are being urged to turn the screw on tool thieves by removing work equipment from their vehicles.

Airedale and North Bradford police made the plea following the theft of hundreds of pounds of tools in Eccleshill and Idle in one night.

Two chainsaws, a glue gun and a bag of handtools were stolen on March 3, when thieves smashed the windows of vehicles parked in Myers Lane and Lichfield Mount in Bolton and Brander Close and Summerbridge Drive in Idle.

Inspector Peter Tuff, of Eccleshill Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Taking a few minutes each night to remove tools from your vehicle will prevent you from the expense of having to replace them.”

Anyone with information about any of the thefts can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
