A convicted paedophile who indecently exposed himself in front of children playing in the Mirror Pool in Bradford’s City Park said his trousers accidentally dropped because the button had fallen off.

Peter Brame, 66, was jailed for four months at Bradford Crown Court after pleading guilty to two offences of exposing himself to cause alarm or distress.

Brame was jailed for 28 weeks in February last year for sexually assaulting his support worker. He grabbed her breast on Christmas Eve, 2011, when she visited him to help him cope in the community.

Two months before the assault, Brame was spared a jail sentence for kissing a nine-year-old girl at a bus stop.

Brame, a chronic alcoholic, of Knoll Park Drive, Shipley, wept in court and spoke of his shame after sexually molesting the child on May 25, 2011.

He kissed her on the face and asked her to lift up her skirt, telling the police she was “a little cracker.”

Yesterday, Brame was brought to court from Leeds Prison after jumping bail for the latest offences.

Prosecutor Heather Weir said he was conditionally discharged on August 30 last year by Bradford and Keighley Magistrates for disorderly conduct. He upset a woman by asking her if she “would do business”.

Shortly before 4pm on the same day, Brame was seen at the Mirror Pool with his bare bottom exposed.

A City Park warden and a lifeguard saw his trousers repeatedly fall down.

“The defendant did not seem to be doing anything positive to keep his trousers in place,” Mrs Weir said.

Brame was fully exposing himself in front of children playing in the pool.

He told arresting police officers he had trouble keeping his trousers up because the button had fallen off.

On February 1, Brame exposed himself on a First Bus heading for Bradford city centre at 12.30pm. A mother, with two young daughters, reported him to the police. She said “an old, scruffy, man” had committed the offence.

Brame’s barrister, Stephen Wood, said he had been in custody since February 4 after failing to turn up at court.

Judge Peter Benson said Brame behaved in “a disgraceful fashion” when drunk.

He told him: “What concerns me is that you may graduate from this sort of conduct to serious sexual assaults.”

But Brame could not be treated in the community because he failed to comply with court orders.
