Owen Cooper, 11, and Aden Doherty, six, make a snack with Nikki Archer
Parents, carers and pupils tucked into some healthy eating at the first of a series of after-school clubs.
Crossley Hall Primary School is keen to promote parent-child quality time and parental involvement with the school while learning about healthy eating and foods.
Michael Thorp, head teacher at the Fairweather Green school, said: “This is a great opportunity for parental involvement. We are very keen to have parents and carers attending with their children and this is a great hands-on approach.”
Each week parents will support their child in making a healthy snack, following an initial demonstration by teaching assistant Nikki Archer.
Sessions will include learning about healthy alternatives to crisps and biscuits. There will be handouts to take home and some sessions will cover topics such as portion size and how much to eat in each food group.
The clubs will run each Thursday from 3pm to 4pm.
