Bradford singer Mya makes it to teen star final

Bradford teenager Mya Thompson is through to the regional finals of the TeenStar talent competition in Manchester next month.

Mya, 13, of West Bowling, goes to the Dixon’s City Academy off Manchester Road and has been singing in local competitions for a year or two.

“She’s trained herself to sing and has been doing it for three or four years. She’s very proud to have got this far,” said her mum, Jayne Thompson.

Mya got through the auditions at Manchester’s Palace Hotel by singing a piece without backing music. Now she is hoping to be chosen to in the competition’s Mid-Teen age category (13-15) and have the chance to sing in the Grand Final at London’s O2 Arena later in the year.
