10:32am Tuesday 5th March 2013 in News
Eleven people were taken to hospital last night after an explosion at a factory in Cleckheaton.
Fire crews from Bradford, Odsal and Cleckheaton stations rushed to Flexitallic, on Hunsworth Lane, at 8.20pm.
Three of the casualties were taken to Dewsbury District Hospital. One, a man, was suffering a shoulder injury, while the other two were walking wounded, said a spokesman for West Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
The other eight patients, also said to be walking wounded, were taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as a precaution.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire Service said the explosion was in an oven. A subsequent fire was also confined to the oven, he added. Fire investigators were on the scene last night Flexitallic manufactures and supplies industrial sealing products.
