Help to raise Otley Chevin cross for Easter

The Chevin Cross The Chevin Cross

At least 40 volunteers are needed to pull the Chevin Cross into place at Surprise View above Otley on Saturday, March 16, where it will remain for four weeks throughout Easter.

The cross on the Chevin, which was installed for the first time in 1969, has now become a well-known Easter symbol of hope. The cross, which was replaced after 31 years for the new millennium, was the brainchild of the Otley Council of Christian Churches.

Volunteers need to be at Surprise View (grid reference SE 203442) at 9.15am on March 16, ready to erect the cross at 9.30am.
