Raped Bradford wife is praised by police

Police have praised the bravery of a wife whose cheating husband has been jailed for nine years for beating and raping her.

The Bradford man was convicted on Thursday of rape, common assault and four offences of making a threat to kill.

PC Glen Doran said: “This must have been a terrifying experience for the victim and one which will undoubtedly have a lasting affect.

“Through fear and intimidation, this man subjected her to terrible acts of abuse and I am extremely pleased that the serious nature of his actions has been recognised in this significant sentence.

“Such behaviour will not be tolerated and will always be met with a robust response from both the police and the courts.

“The victim showed bravery throughout and I hope it will encourage others to come forward who have suffered in a similar way and report these crimes.”
