A primary school welcomed fairies, superheroes and Vikings through its doors when children came in dressed as their favourite book character.
The dress-up day at Byron Primary School, in Barkerend Road, was the culmination of a week of events celebrating the opening of its new library.
Headteacher Richard O’Sullivan said: “We have had competitions to win books running throughout the week. Every child seen reading got a raffle ticket, so there was a raffle drawn.
“We displayed photographs of teachers when they were babies, next to their favourite book, and children had to work out which was which.
“We then had a prize for the best fancy dress.”
