History on the agenda at Oakwell Hall

The first in a series of hands-on history days at Oakwell Hall in Birstall is to take place tomorrow.

There will also now be a history event on the first Sunday of every month.

Activities this weekend will run from noon to 4pm during the hall’s normal winter opening times.

Visitors will have the chance to have a go at quill pen writing, making ‘Gods eyes’ and pomanders and trying on reproduction costumes and being photographed wearing them.

In addition there will be free 15-minute introductory talks on the hour, starting at 1pm, to give a background to the house and the Batt family who lived there.

Normal hall admission charges apply .
