We’re looking for new businesses who have set up in the last year to enter our Bradford Means Business Awards 2013.

To enter the New Business of the Year category, firms in the Bradford area must have been in operation for less than a year and be able to demonstrate imagination, sound planning, exceptional marketing and great delivery.

This is the third year of the awards, supported by Bradford Council and Bradford Chamber, and we are now accepting entries in a host of categories until Friday March 29. If you want to be in with a shout, visit thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/bradfordmeansbusiness to peruse the categories and criteria.

This category is sponsored by Appleyard Jaguar. One company that has already entered is the Bradford-based arts business, Fabric, which runs a shop in the city centre called Hand Made.

The company says: “Hand Made in Bradford is a shop selling hand made work by artists and crafts people from Bradford and surrounding areas. The shop was opened in March 2012 by Fabric, an arts charity in Bradford, in the former Zavvi store at 1 Tyrrel Street in the centre of Bradford. The shop sells work by more than 100 artists and makers and offers them an opportunity to sell direct to the public and develop their own business ideas.

“Hand Made in Bradford is run entirely by volunteers who organise the rotas for staffing the shop as well as putting in place the systems needed to record sales, provide feedback to and liaise with makers, create window displays and in-store merchandising.

“All volunteers receive training in appropriate systems as well as briefing about how the shop works, customer care and how to deal with queries and complaints. Volunteers are recruited via Fabric’s weekly email bulletin and via social media such as Facebook.”

Category sponsors are Appleyard Jaguar, and general manager Chris Gardner is proud of the dealership’s long-standing reputation for delivering outstanding customer service to its loyal and valued Jaguar owners.

Last year was again a very successful year for the dealership, with new Jaguar sales up 30 per cent year-on-year.

Appleyard’s success has been recognised at a national level and it is shortlisted for Jaguar Sales and Service Dealer of the Year 2012.
