She said: “It’s been a crazy few months turning what used to be Cranshaw’s chemists into our new gallery. It’s a wonderful old building that oozes character and shows remnants of its former life here and there.
“Apparently, in the 30s it was a plumber’s merchants and had a fine bathroom showroom where the main gallery now is. It still has the magnificent thick curved glass tiles which are now the entrance to two more gallery spaces.
“There are mysterious drains and drain channels cut into the floor in the cellar. I’ve yet to find out what these are for, and there are huge solid wooden doors that must have opened onto a chute from pavement level, but have long since been blocked up.
“We loved our original spot but it was just too small. It seemed such a shame when people visited the gallery asking for something that I had at home and was unable to show them.
“The building has a wonderful wide frontage, so at previews we will be able to spill out onto the pavement and celebrate in style.”
