Charity takes on cats as owner dies

A Keighley animal charity had to make urgent room for nine cats whose owner died.

The managers of Yorkshire Cat Rescue said the case highlighted the need for more people to make arrangements for their pets in the event of something happening that leaves them unable to care for them.

Sara Atkinson, founder of the charity which is based in Cross Roads, said: “Because we haven’t got any records to go on, we may never know for sure how old these nine cats are, whether any of them are related and what their medical history is like.

“Although they seem friendly and healthy, our main concern is identifying whether any of them have special medical or behavioural needs that require attention.”
