Jewellery found as police raid homes

Watches and necklaces were among dozens of suspected stolen items recovered during police raids on houses in Bradford.

Officers swooped on two properties in West Bowling and seized about 30 items, including jewellery and CDs.

Now detectives are hoping to reunite the suspected stolen jewellery with its rightful owners.

The raids in Bradford were carried out as part of a burglary investigation that had started in North Yorkshire.

On Tuesday, Harrogate CID, working with the support of West Yorkshire Police, arrested two 40-year-old men from Bradford in connection with three burglaries on Vernon Road and Ashgarth Court, in Harrogate, between February 2 and 9.

Warrants were then executed at the addresses in Bradford.

The arrested men have been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.

To support the investigation, officers are appealing to residents in West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire to look at photographs of the goods so they can be safely returned to the rightful owners.

Detective Constable Chris Spackman, of York CID, said: “The investigation is progressing well and we are doing everything we can to secure justice for the burglary victims.

“Importantly, we also need to reunite a number of other suspected stolen jewellery, watches and other items with their owners.

“If residents in North Yorkshire or West Yorkshire recognise any of the items from the photographs we have placed in the media and on the North Yorkshire Police Facebook page , please get in touch as soon as possible.”
