A car fitted with a camera to catch criminals red-handed is on the streets of Bradford.

Surveillance technology is triggered when anyone tries to break in to it but police say people can help drive down thefts by remembering to lock their vehicles.

Between April 2012 and February 2013 there were 85 fewer thefts from motor vehicles compared the same period a year before.

Detective Constable Matt Wilkinson said: “The capture cars are used throughout the entire district and by using this tool, we are continuing to have some significant success in reducing vehicle crime.

“Those who attack it will find themselves caught on camera, subsequently allowing us to trace those responsible.”
