A Keighley school will take on an exercise bike challenge in aid of a trainee PE teacher paralysed after a Greek holiday.

Callum Hall, 20, trod on a sea urchin last year and the venom created a spinal abscess that burst and left him paralysed.

Now staff at Holy Family Catholic School are trying to raise money to aid his recovery and provide specialist equipment to help him walk again.

Callum is hoping to compete in the 2016 Paralympics.

Jess Moran, head of year seven at Holy Family, said Callum lives in Yeadon but Holy Family head Lawrence Bentley and deputy head Martin Hings had taught Callum’s siblings.

Mr Bentley and 17 other staff members will attempt a continuous exercise bike ride throughout the day on March 15.
