Clement 'Butch' Desmier
A provisional trial date was set yesterday for a man accused of the murder of Bradford grandfather Clement ‘Butch’ Desmier.
Derek Newby, 63, of Rimswell Holt, Ravenscliffe, Bradford, is accused of murdering Mr Desmier, 68, at Bradford between August 21 and 24 last year.
He appeared before Judge Roger Thomas QC at Bradford Crown Court today via video link from Leeds Prison where a provisional trial date was set for July 1, with a plea and case management hearing on May 3. The case will be mentioned on March 18.
Newby was further remanded in custody.
Mr Desmier, who had six children and ten grandchildren, was found dead at his home in Rowlestone Rise, Greengates, on August 23.
