Rupert Stroud (pictured), 25, from Ilkley, attended a reception at the House of Commons yesterday, for the launch of the charity’s new dementia research strategy.

It is a subject very close to Mr Stroud’s heart as he lost his grandma Eileen to Alzheimer’s disease in 2009, aged 87.

Since then Mr Stroud has been a supporter of the charity and has raised more than £5,000 for its pioneering research by donating 100 per cent of profits from a single he released as a tribute to his grandma. Additional funds have been raised at his concerts.
