Shearbridge group given grant to aid people in cold weather

A new community group in Bradford has been awarded a grant to help vulnerable people during cold weather.

The Shearbridge Residents Association was given a Winter Warmth Community Grant by the Bradford West Area Co-ordinator’s Office, supported by ward officer Kate Armitstead.

The grant from Bradford District Community Fund has allowed the group to buy snow shovels and grit bins to ensure children and elderly residents are able to access school and services.

The group will also run a hot food and drink morning and afternoon in the local community centre for the elderly, pensioners, young children, families suffering fuel poverty and vulnerable people.

Councillor Imran Hussain said: “This is a great way to get the local community coming together to help and support one another.

“This project and the funding they have received is a brilliant example of local residents making sure the vulnerable people in our communities are supported.”
