Make your Valentine's day with a love note, says British Heart Foundation

Four out of five Yorkshire folk prefer to be given romantic gestures rather than expensive gifts.

That’s according to a new survey, in which 82 per cent of people in Yorkshire and the Humber said they would prefer a handwritten poem or love letter to costly jewellery.

The survey was conducted by the British Heart Foundation – and its charity shops are now providing a way in which cash-strapped Romeos can declare their love.

For a minimum £1 donation, the shops will display personal ‘love notes’ in their windows until Valentine’s Day.

Regional manager Debbie Boylen said: “Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend large sums of money to woo your other half.

“In fact, romantic gestures like writing a love note or even just a hug can make your partner’s day.”
