Clement Desmier who was killed at his Bradford home
A 63-year-old man appeared in court in a wheelchair today, charged with the murder of Bradford grandfather Clement Desmier.
Relatives of Mr Desmier were in court to see Derek Newby wheeled in by security officers.
The three-minute magistrates' court hearing took place shortly after midday at Bradford Crown Court to accommodate Newby’s wheelchair.
Newby, of Rimswell Holt, Ravenscliffe, Bradford, is accused of murdering Mr Desmier, 68, at his home in Rowlestone Rise, Greengates, Bradford, between August 21 and 24 last year.
He was remanded in custody and will next appear via video link before a Crown Court judge on Thursday.
