Riddlesden teenager to help in the Himalayas

A Riddlesden teenager is taking part in an expedition to a flood-hit area of India.

Gemma Craven is among 16 students from Durham University heading to Leh, in the Himalayas, this summer to help rebuild infrastructure in the town, which was damaged by flooding.

“I’m really excited about going,” said Gemma, 18, of Bar Lane.

Now Gemma needs to raise £2,700, of which £1,300 goes to Future Sense Foundation.

The former East Morton Primary and Bingley Grammar School pupil is organising a fundraising concert at Bingley Little Theatre on April 7, featuring cabaret group Encore.

Tickets are £7, including a pie and pea supper. For more details and tickets e-mail g.l.craven@dur.ac.uk or visit bingleylittletheatre.co.uk.
