A Bradford school has celebrated its 25th anniversary by releasing balloons, burying a time capsule and opening a new library.

Miriam Lord Primary School in Manningham marked its quarter century in style, with an action-packed day.

Head teacher Bryan Harrison said: “The 25 years celebrations are a proud moment for everyone connected with the school. It has been the perfect opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and look forward to the successes that lay ahead."

The day began with the opening of the Bavaria Place school’s new library by former head teacher Susan Clarke.

That was followed by the release of 480 balloons – one for every pupil at the school. In the afternoon, the time capsule was buried.

Throughout the day, classes did something different to mark the occasion, with themes either about the 25 years of the school, or about Miriam Lord, a pioneer of children’s nursery education in Bradford, who the school was named after.
