Mental health on agenda for meeting
4:49pm Monday 11th February 2013 in News
Mental health is on the agenda when Bradford District’s Clinical Commissioning Group’s governing body meets in public tomorrow.
Mental health advocacy worker Sara Firth will talk about her experiences of using local services and how they can be taken into account by the group.
She has worked as a volunteer for two local mental health charities and is now employed by Bradford and Airedale Mental Health Advocacy Group.
“Becoming involved with local services and making things better for other people was a turning point for me,” she said.
“I began to think of my mental health issues as positive rather than negative and listening to people to improve services made things worthwhile.”
Transforming mental health services is one of the key priorities for the CCG and the governing body will discuss how people can be involved in developing services.
Clinical chairman of Bradford District CCG, Dr Andy Withers, said: “We are committed to having local people at the heart of decision making when we plan and develop services.”
The meeting is at Hirst Wood Bakery, Shipley, tomorrow at 1.30pm.
