Plan to turn former Saltaire shop into a home

A planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council to turn an empty shop in Saltaire into a home.
Numbers 38 and 39 Titus Street – an end and adjoining inner terrace – have been used as a shop and interconnecting home for more than 50 years, according to the application from Derek Newstead.
The application’s design statement says: “The shop, located in the ground floor of number 38, ceased trading in 1989 and has remained empty and boarded up since then, although the first floor has been used to provide additional bedroom accommodation to number 39.” The applicant has applied for a change of use of the empty shop to residential use and for the subsequent subdivision of the properties into two three bedroom cottages.
