New West Yorkshire Chief Constable gets down to work
11:54am Friday 8th February 2013 in News By Steve Wright, Crime Reporter
Chief Constable Mark Gilmore
The appointment of the new West Yorkshire Chief Constable Mark Gilmore was officially ratified today by the Police and Crime Panel.
Immediately after the decision was made at a meeting in Wakefield, he said: "I am absolutely delighted and the work starts now."
Mr Gilmore, a former Assistant Chief Constable with the West Yorkshire force, was appointed Deputy Chief Constable of Northumbria Police 18 months ago.
West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson admitted selecting the new Chief Constable had been a difficult decision but he was convinced the right choice had been made.
