Firefighters in breathing gear tackled a five-hour blaze at a disused plastics factory near Hipperholme on Wednesday. The derelict former Monoplas factory still contained some discarded plastic material and five appliances from Brighouse, Elland, Odsal and Illingworth attended the incident. The fire in the remote old one-storey building off Badger Lane was extinguished at 11.45pm.
