Bradford Cathedral’s organ restoration appeal has been given an immediate boost.
The appeal, which officially started at yesterday’s lunchtime recital, raised £1,200 towards the £250,000 cost of restoring the Edwardian instrument to its former glory in time for the building’s centenary celebrations in 2019.
Fundraisers were invited to buy a pipe to help boost funds at the recital, which was attended by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Bradford, Councillor Dale Smith and his wife Margaret.
Alex Woodrow, the Cathedral’s director of music, said: “It has been a really positive start.”
