Pupils at a Bradford school were left “star-bound” after the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire paid a visit.
High Sheriff Stephen Davidson spent the morning talking to children at Lady Lane Park School, Bingley, about his job and responsibilities wearing full regalia.
Staff at the school said it was a fantastic opportunity for the young people to get a rare insight into the role. The post is a voluntary role and is held for one year.
Head teacher Gill Wilson said: “It was a fascinating morning; we are very grateful he made the time to come by. The children were left star-bound by his visit. It really gave them encouragement to show that you can work hard to get in a high position like that.
“He explained to them even though he has an important job he still drives himself around. He also brought his sword to show the children and explained the history behind it.”
