Man fined for using dead mum's disabled parking badge

A Bradford man was fined for using his dead mother’s disabled badge to park on double yellow lines.

Philip License, 41, of Templars Way, Fairweather Green, pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful use of Beryl License’s badge on September 28, 2012, after she had died more than a year before.

Representing himself, Mr License told Bradford Magistrates Court he had used the parking pass in an emergency as he was running late to sign up at a college.

He claimed he was unable to park too far away after having undergone three operations on his knee.

Chairman of the bench, David Mullen said Mr License’s reasons “didn’t wash” and imposed a total fine of £615.
