A Haworth artist died when her brain shut down from the toxic effects of painkillers and alcohol, an inquest has heard.

Lynne Robertson, 53, of Woodlands Rise, was discovered by her nurse husband Terrence Robertson at home last September 6.

The hearing in Bradford yesterday heard Mrs Robertson had mental health problems and had taken overdoses before.

Addressing her husband in court, Coroner Peter Straker asked him whether he thought she had committed suicide.

Mr Robertson replied: “In previous incidents her intent was to ease herself rather than end her life. She had goals, a vision for the future.

“I don’t feel suicide was the main driver.”

Recording a verdict of accidental death, Mr Straker said: “The dreadful inner turmoil that Mrs Robertson experienced had on a number of previous occasions acted as motivation for taking overdoses.”
