A 90-ton crane which flipped into a canal when a towpath collapsed under its weight is still in the water several days after the accident.
The crane was being used at Dobson Locks in Apperley Bridge on Friday morning when it fell into the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The driver managed to leap out before the vehicle was submerged.
The Canals and Rivers Trust was doing preparation work to replace the lock gates.
A spokesman for the charity yesterday said that it was still investigating the accident and may know today when the lorry would be removed.
