An Otley man, who lost his son in a crash, and his local MP have both been named road safety ‘champions’.
Tony Davison and Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem), were honoured at the annual Brake Road Safety Awards ceremony.
Mr Davison, whose 18-year-old son Adrian died in a car accident in Bramhope in 2002, was named Road Safety Educator of the Year for the work he has done with young people to try to prevent more tragedies.
Mr Mulholland won the Road Safety Parliamentarian of the Year award for the support he has given the family of 16-year-old Jamie Still, of Otley, who died after being hit by a drink driver on New Year's Eve, 2010.
