Residents paraded giant lanterns through Horton Park in Bradford.

Live music, fire performers and shadow puppets added to the entertainment as people from the Canterbury Estate, Great Horton and Little Horton lit up the park.

Staff from Bradford Council’s West and East Area Co-Ordinators Offices helped organise the parade as well as providing funding from the Council’s Community Chest scheme.

Art organisation Cecil Green Arts worked with the Friends of Horton Park, Canterbury Children’s Centre, Askham Bryan College, Horton Park and Copthorne Primary Schools, Cross Lane Mosque and the Joshua Project to make more than 75 lanterns. They included an enormous snake, a giant phoenix and 12-feet high snowdrops.

The aim of the parade was to encourage people from across the community to come together and to raise the profile of the park.
