House fire victims across the district were happy with how firefighters tackled blazes last year, a new survey has found.

The questionnaire, by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS), saw 100 per cent of people asked say they were either ‘very satisfied’ or ‘fairly satisfied’ with how crews handled incidents in the county in 2011-12.

The service asked an independent research company to send 528 surveys to people who had reported domestic incidents and received 143 responses.

They showed 97 per cent said they were ‘very satisfied’ or ‘fairly satisfied’ with their initial contact on the telephone with the fire service, and 57 per cent said crews arrived quicker than they had expected.

For non-domestic incidents, 100 per cent of respondents said they were ‘very satisfied’ or ‘fairly satisfied’ with the service provided at the scene.
